With the clarion call of Vatican II to go back to the sources of Christian life and to the original inspiration of the founders, some of the Sisters have made studies of the charism, identity and heritage of the Congregation. Thus, the Sisters realize that Angela Merici, the Foundress of the Ursulines and their Founder, Fr Urban Stein’s original inspiration, is an example par excellance in faith education and working for the uplift of the woman and the girl child. Angela who lived in the 16th century in Italy was a Franciscan Tertiary and, like the Poverello of Assisi, wanted to bring comfort to the poor. Moreover St Francis of Assisi, whose spirituality the Institute has accepted, inspires them to be poor and humble in the witnessing of the Gospel and to embrace the whole universe with love.

This is a unique institute in the Church which integrates the spiritualities of St Angela Merici and Francis of Assisi.
