PROVINCE DAY - MYSORE PROVINCE


With a prayer dance the day’s programme began followed by the inaugural address by Rev Sr Lily Fernandes Provincial Superior.  In her note she expressed that the root of joy is gratefulness... It is not joy that make us grateful; it is gratitude that makes us joyful.  A constant gratitude to God and to others for so much that we have received daily. She quoted Pope Francis’ words that ‘Women who are consecrated to God live, the Prophecy of joy and this authentic joy is the most credible witness’.  She exhorted the Sisters to be joyful in the face of challenges and thus to radiate God’s love and compassion.

 

V Rev Sr Susheela Sequeria Superior General, Rev Sr Juliana Pinto Councillor General, Rev Sr Lily Fernandes Provincial Superior of Mysore Province, Rev Sr Jeraldine D’Souza Delegate Superior of Central Delegation were present on this occasion.

 

Felicitation Programme: 12 Sisters were felicitated for rendering their loving and joyful service in the fields of Vocation Promotion, Education, Social, Nursing Care, Medical Care, Counselling, Pastoral, UFLA, Child Care, Formation, Clerical and Agriculture. 

 

The Fancy Dress Competition on various titles of Blessed Mother Mary and Patrons Sts Angela Merici, Francis, Ursula and Mother Nympha Fernandez, the First Superior was held. The competition was held at Zonal level and winners of 8 Zones presented on this day.  After which there was poetry competition on the Province Chapter theme: Launch into the Deep.  The Sisters of 9 Zones presented in different languages. 

   

Rev Fr Christopher Crasta MSFS presided over the solemn Eucharist and in his homily highlighted how a consecrated person to be a joyful person in the Community and share that joy with the outside world. After the mass the gathering shared the joy with one another through a sumptuous fraternal meal.

In the afternoon the Sisters from 8 zones showcased their talents through the presentation of parables. Sisters with their creative ideas and presentation gave an inspiring message to the audience.  V Rev Sr Susheela Sequeira Superior General in her presidential speech addressed the Sisters to have 3 simple Attitudes to make religious life as joyful.      1. Attitude of Gratitude 2. Attitude of Generosity 3. Attitude of Togetherness.  She called the Sisters to be always connected with God and to be interconnected with one another to experience fullness of life and joy.  

Sisters were eagerly waiting to know the winners of the competitions as names were announced for Fancy Dress, Essay, Poetry, Parables and Quiz competitions. As prizes were distributed there was lot of joyful noise to receive their share.  The whole colorful and joyful celebration came to an end at 4 p.m. with Congregational Anthem.  At the end there was lot of joy, gratitude and appreciation in the heart of every Sister as they were enriched and motivated to become joyful religious in the communities and mission.
