Extended Council Meeting




The Extended Council Meeting 2020 of the Ursuline Franciscan Congregation was held from 10th to 17th December 2020 at the Generlate, Somarpann. Forty officials for the Congregation that include the Superior General and Council, the Procurator General, the Provincial and Councils of five Provinces namely, Mangalore, Mysore, North East, North and Hubli, the Delegate Superior and Council of Central Delegation and the a few representatives of African Region and one from European Region attended this week long meeting which is held once a year. The theme of the Meeting was: “Repair My House.”  Rev Fr Gerry Lobo OFM took two days’ sessions on the theme. “Francis, don’t you see my House is being destroyed ? Go, then, and Rebuild it for me” ( L3C 13). Words of St Francis heard from the Crucifix of San Damiano offer us a way of personal, communitarian and social (political-economic-ecclesiastical) analysis. Fr Gerry Lobo centred his sessions on three stages of reflection: SEE-JUDGE-ACT.

A number of group discussions, sharing and the input sessions gave the leaders an impetus to introspect  life and mission of the Sisters as consecrated people and enlightened them for a way forward as the year 2021-22 is the year of Provincial and General Chapters.

During the Meeting Sr Dulcin Crasta UFS explained in detail the Adolescent Empowerment Project of the Congregation and called for whole hearted co-operation to make this project a success. Dr Sr Laura Pinto UFS Professor at Mangalore University, Konaje and Dr Nobert Lobo Professor of Economics of St Aloysius College Mangalore gave sessions on National Education Policy 2020 and Mr Sunil Gonsalves CA on the New FCRA rules.

Besides this the General Council had the meetings with the individual Provincial Councils and the Delegation Councils. The meetings of the various Cells of the Congregation were held on 13th December 2020.

The Extended Council Meeting conclusion was at the Foundation Room, St Ursula Convent, Bolar with a concluding prayer service. The Leaders returned back to their respective Provinces with a burning zeal in their hearts to ‘Repair My House’ commissioned by the Lord.
