Sr Leonora was born on 27th August 1939 as the eighth child of 9 children to Mr Peter Menezes and Mrs Seraphine Colaco belonging to Nithyadhar Parish, Gantalkatte. Her baptismal name was Dorothy Menezes. She grew up amidst a very loving and God-fearing family. One of her brothers was a Tahsildar and another one served in Indian Army, other five brethren were teachers. Rev. Fr Freddie Menezes S.J, Sr Nora Noronha B.S. and Dr Ronald Colaco, were few among her cousins. Their contributions to the Church, society and nation were remarkable. Sr Leonora became a great strength to the family through her prayers, as a counselor, and guide.

Name: SR CARMINE LOBO

Sr Carmine Lobo was born on 2nd July 1953 in St. Joseph’s Parish, Hirebile in Chikmangalore Diocese in a God fearing family of Augustine Lobo and Mary Lobo. Among the ten children, Sr Carmine was the second child in the family. After completing the Hr. Pry. education in Sacred Heart School Hirebile and High School education in St Theresa School Belthangady, she joined the Ursuline Franciscan Congregation on 28th May 1972. Thereafter, she made her First Profession on 8th May 1975 and Perpetual Profession on 26th December 1980 at Holy Rosary Convent Jeppu and committed herself totally to the service of God. She was fortunate to be the first religious Sister in her parish.

With the death of Sr Maude it seems that everything of her life came to an end; but, Christian faith teaches us that with physical death there begins a new life – the unending experience of life with God. Sr Maude entered that uninterrupted God- experience with her death on July 13, 2024 at the age of 90 years.

Sr Patricia Tauro was born in Sacred Heart Church, Madanthyar on December 12th 1938 to Mr Stanislaus Tauro and Mrs Seraphina Pinto. She was the seventh child among 8 children. She was baptized as Florine Tauro. Her primary schooling was done in Sacred Heart Hr Pry School, Madanthyar, High School at St Ursula Higher Primary School, Bolar, 4th form to 6th form at St Joseph’s Girl High School, Kundapur. She was inspired by her own elder sister Sr Flavia Tauro to join the Congregation and joined the Ursuline Franciscan Congregation in June 1958.

Sr Letitia Fernandes was born on 8th July 1941 to Mr John Fernandes and Mary Fernandes at Angelore. She was the fourth child among the eleven children and in baptism christened as Prescilla Mildred. Sr Letitia did her primary and secondary schooling in Capitanio, Mangalore,graduation in St Agnes College and B.Ed in St Ann College, Mangalore. She joined the Ursulines in 1963 and in 1965 she made her Temporary profession. She offered completely to the service of the Lord through her perpetual profession on 8th May 1970.

Sr Imelda was born on 10th August 1935 at Neermarga to Mr Antony Crasta and Christine Pereira. She was christened as Assumpta Maria Crasta. She was the eldest daughter among seven siblings, grew up in a devout and God fearing family where the seed of vocation was sown and fostered by her parents, nurtured by consecrating her life as a young girl by giving concrete expression by joining the Ursuline Franciscan Congregation on 21st June 1956. On 6th May 1959 she made her temporary profession and on 6th May 1964 she made her perpetual profession and surrendered herself completely to the Lord.

Sr Ann Lewis heard these whispers in her ears as the Lord of life called her to eternal home on 24th of October and she willingly responded to this call and peacefully flew to the land of the living where there is no more sorrow or pain, neither sickness nor suffering. Sr Ann Lewis was born on July 22, 1949 to John Lewis and Marceline D Souza as the third child among the six siblings. Her God fearing family belonged to Mother of Mercy Parish, Fajir. Sr Ann whose baptismal name was Santan grew up in an environment of faith and devotion to our Lady. She did early schooling in St Joseph’s Primary School, Fajir and her High school education at Sacred Heart High School, Kulshekar.

Sr Lilia Rasquinha was born on 5th April 1947 at Bejai to Mr Ambrose Rasquinha and Alice D’Souza. She was the only child to the family. On May 5th 1965 she joined the Ursuline Franciscan Congregation did her Temporary Profession on June 1968 and Perpetual Profession on 11th May 1973.

Sr Irene Vas was born on 27th June 1945 to Mr John Peter Vas and Mrs Lucy Vas of St. Francis Xavier Church, Bejai. After completing her higher secondary studies, she joined the Ursuline Franciscan Congregation on 1st June 1972. She made her first profession on 5th May, 1975 and the perpetual profession on 26th December, 1980. The first ‘Yes’ Which she said was renewed and lived relentlessly for 48 years in the service of the Lord. She was a teacher of needle work and embroidery and she served at Jeppu, Gundlupet, H D Kote, Siddakatte, Jogfalls, Jompanahalli, Suntikoppa and Bogadi.

Her baptismal name was Kochu Therese P.J. Born on 04.08.1932 to Mr Augustine John and Mariamma as a fourth child among the five siblings. This God-fearing family lived in Travancore, Kodamangalum Diocese, Kerala. After her high School studies, the young and energetic Kochu Therese joined the Ursuline Franciscan Congregation in the year 1954 at Holy Rosary Convent, Jeppu, made her Temporary Profession on 29.05.1956. Her faith, dedicated service and love for the Lord enabled her to make her Perpetual Profession on 06.05.1959.
