UFLA is one of the creative responses of the Congregation to the present need of the Church. This was the dream of the Congregation realized with the blessings of our Patrons, Founder and our Pioneers who were very close to the laity and acknowledged their role in the Church. At the event of the Post Centenary Silver Jubilee of the Foundation of the Ursuline Franciscan Congregation it opened its portals to the Catholic men and women of good will who wished to join hands with its members in the fulfillment of the mission entrusted by the Founder Fr Urban Stein and the Pioneering members. The formal inauguration of Ursuline Franciscan Lay Association (UFLA) took place on April 12, 2012 at Rosario Cathedral, Mangalore. Since then this Lay Association is gaining strength in quantity and quality due to the enthusiastic recruitment process by the Sisters and the formation given to the members through monthly meetings and opportunities for prayer and sharing in the Congregational events. The UFLA Handbook is translated to various local languages. Today there are 63 local Units of UFLA and 391temporarily affiliated members and 369 permanently affiliated members. They collaborate in the life and mission of the Congregation and are active in the local Church.
